Campaign Will Highlight Activists’ Hypocrisy, Expose Cynical Tactics
National Fisheries Institute (NFI) announced a campaign to educate seafood buyers about the hypocrisy, fraud and financial motives behind Greenpeace’s annual supermarket ranking.
“Retailers already know that Greenpeace — by its own admission — ‘does not currently endorse a seafood certification program, including the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).’ Neither does Greenpeace endorse any Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs). If Greenpeace is not willing to help retailers even consider these widely accepted sustainable programs, why extort sensitive sourcing information from seafood buyers if not to exploit them in some fundraising scheme?” said Gavin Gibbons, NFI’s director of media relations.
